After Shave - Skin Deep (CD) Cover Art After Shave - Skin Deep (CD)

Includes 5 bonus tracks!

After Shave were a heavy trio formed in the late 60s and influenced by Cream, Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin and the usual suspects.

It is heavy blues rock done just right. For fans of Leaf Hound, Yardbirds and Led Zeppelin. A couple of melodic acoustic tinged excursions that fit right in to make the CD more dynamic. Wailing guitar leads and hard psych rhythms and melodic catchy vocals sometimes with 'Beatle-esque' harmonies. The production is the best it could be given the limitations of recording back then. Great guitar tone. Get this one while it's available.

Ashbury - Endless Skies (CD) Cover Art Ashbury - Endless Skies (CD)

A real gem for fans of classic rock and even 70s metal heads into such obscurities as Legend (From the Fjords) or southern rockers into groups like The Outlaws. Hypnotic vocal hooks and a mystical atmosphere mixing acoustic and electric guitars lures you right into this group's unique hard rock sound. It's amazing how such talent can slip right under the radar.

Automag - Hellbound (CD) Cover Art Automag - Hellbound (CD)

Automag combines the heaviest of the sludge ridden 70's rock with more recent entries into the field like Monster Magnet and Clutch. This is a great album to just pump up to eleven and sit around with friends and sworn enemies while drinking someone else's booze.

While one can immediately hear their southern influences, what's not as obvious to discern is their tremendous potential. One part nitro-fueled guitars, one part thunderous drums, and one part granite-solid vocals, Automag has an outlaw appeal. Featuring The Mighty Quinn on guitars and vocals, Mark Jethro McHone on bass and vocals and Mike Cook on drums, Automag is a band to watch out for, and Hellbound , with its 10-shots of pure rock n' roll adrenaline, is a surefire hit for the summer.

BillyLee Janey - Soul Driver (CD) Cover Art BillyLee Janey - Soul Driver (CD)

Janey leads his veteran four piece blues band through hills and valleys of expansive sound on this powerfully electric album. Janey's versatility on the guitar is notably impressive, but his ability to steer the players in directions without forcibly overshadowing them may be his greatest strength. Leaving room for the bass, keys, and drums to shine on their own, he allows his band mates space to move and groove, and they take full advantage. This solid backup gives him more than enough fuel to deliver some striking solos that interface with the organ to create a sound that is multi-tiered and ambitious, without resorting to thinly veiled noodling. The lyrics wisely follow the music down the same path, staying true to the blues form, but getting effectively modern in their content and melody. This is blues with both feel and calculation, and it takes some wise and talented players to pull that off. This is a band that is up for the task, and they deliver the goods with rock and rhythm to spare.

Iron Claw - Self Titled (CD) Cover Art Iron Claw - Self Titled (CD)

First official release of early 70s Scottish underground heavy rock recordings from this group who were stomping around the UK with the likes of Black Sabbath, Hackensack, Pink Fairies, Juicy Lucy and others from the time, but never released a proper album. Their name, Iron Claw, was taken from the first line in King Crimson's song "21st Century Schizoid Man". In the beginning, Iron Claw probably became the world's first Black Sabbath tribute band, as they incorporated the entire first Black Sabbath LP and single into their set! As it turns out, Bassist Alex Wilson was the one who unearthed his personal recording of the oldest known concert tape of Black Sabbath, a 1969 gig recorded in Dumfries, Scotland! As time progressed, Iron Claw's live sets included many originals as well as hanging on to some covers such as War Pigs, Fairies Wear Boots, Wicked World Green Manalishi and Lady Whisky.

Jerusalem - Self Titled (CD) Cover Art Jerusalem - Self Titled (CD)

The first official reissue of this infamous metallic heavy rock album from 1972 produced by Deep Purple's legendary frontman, Ian Gillan. The music is a menacing combination of over-the-top vocals and screaming lead guitars that could easily pass for something from the early 80s New Wave of British Heavy Metal scene, it's that far ahead of its time. Originally released on the UK Deram/Decca label, and now a favorite among vinyl collectors, the album is presented here from the original master tapes and also features pre-album demos, alternate mixes and a non-lp single track. The 20-page color booklet contains liner notes written by bassist Paul Dean, lyrics, press clippings and rare photos! A must-have for fans of 70s hard rock and also the early 80s NWOBHM sound.

Not many bands really excite me. But this one's so raw and completely unpretentious. They make the biggest bloody noise you can imagine, tempered with moments of extreme emotion.

The album is definitely a hardrocker in the same vein as Stray, Steamhammer and Samuel Prody as well as some of the more heavier German acts like Night Sun, Message and Hairy Chapter. Rough doomy and very dynamic.

Something to be aware of...
By default, the search results include titles from The Archive. This will often give the impression that we don't do a very good job of keeping our titles in stock. This is not the case! Most of our 3,500+ active catalog titles are restocked regularly. It's the 7,500+ archived titles that are "unavailable". Use the search refinement options or do more specific searches if you're seeing too many "unavailable" items. Also, results are sorted by date with the newest releases at the top. Again, you can use the search refinement options to change this.

  • Refine by Category > All Else will hide archived titles and only show active catalog titles. (only available when there are enough search results to warrant it)
  • Sort By and Refine By Record Label Provide many options for more specific search results.
