"On Death Is This Communion, the three-piece (with Zeke's Jeff Matz filling the bass slot) is still marching off to battle, but they're showing no signs of weariness. In fact, they sound even more invigorated than before. “Fury Whip” gallops straight out of the gate with its thrashy riff and pummeling, thunderous rhythm. “Faster! Heavier!” seems to be the main theme to the album, with the band going full-bore as often as possible. High on Fire has delivered another outstanding album. As is the case with their other releases - recommended."
"This is insanely good, the riffs are pummeling, the solos make my jaw drop, and some of the arrangements, particularly some of the endings, surprised the shit out of me. Pike has definitely stepped it up on all levels, including the vocals, if you ask these ears, the bass playing is great, and the drumming crushes as usual. My only complaint is that those 56 minutes fly by far too fast."
