"Pentagram's had more releases over the last 3-4 years than in their first twenty years, and here comes another one! However, this is not the "new" Pentagram, Keg being a live recording from 1978, with the short-lived two-guitar lineup that existed between the original Penatgram and the Death Row era (although this "High Voltage" lineup did feature Joe Hasselvander and Marty Swaney). "
"For a 25 year old live recording by an unsigned band, the sound quality is pretty damn good, and definitely better than most of the "Death Is Alive" release from a few years back. All instruments are fairly clear in the mix, although Bobby Liebling's vocals are a little low. The song selection features many Pentagram classics, such as "When The Screams Come", "Review Your Choices", and "Madman", as well as a few songs not found on the many live bootlegs floating around out there, such as "Earth Flight", and "Much Too Young To Know". My picks would be the ripping version of "Day of Reckoning" and the re-worked version of "Much Too Young to Know", which is totally different than the song of the same name recorded in 1976 by the original Pentagram. Also, at the end of the cd is the "Livin In A Rams Head"/"When The Screams Come" 7" from this same lineup."
"If you've never heard Pentagram before, I'd still suggest "First Daze Here" or "Turn To Stone" before this, as Keg is really aimed at the Pentagram fanatic. But this is a great listen while we're waiting for "First Daze Too" (c'mon, what's taking so long Relapse?!), and "Deep Covers" (Pentagram covering Mountain, Dust etc). "
